I’ve often read online and in the forums I am part of about the supposed benefits of Baby Aspirin as a way of preventing miscarriage. I’ve never really understood it as no-one could explain why. I did however come across this article today which explained it a little more.
Many women that have recurrent miscarriages have extremely high levels of antiphospholipid antibodies. These proteins increase your chances of blood clots. Pregnant women with this issue can miscarry because the blood clots form around the placenta, depriving the fetus of oxygen and nutrients. Aspirin, an acetylsalysic acid, works prevents blood clots because of its anticoagulative properties.
