Our gift to other grieving parents

THE parents of a baby who died after becoming entwined with his umbilical cord have succeeded in a fundraising drive to help other grieving families.

Maria and Steve Leeman were devastated when their son George died just days after his birth at Hull Royal Infirmary in June 2008.

Their other son Thomas was just five-years-old when he had to come to terms with the huge loss.

However, spurred on by the support of family and friends, the Leemans decided to plough their efforts into helping other families in a similar situation.

They organised a charity walk which saw family, friends and work colleagues pound the pavements of East Yorkshire to raise money for Sands (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society) and the baby bereavement room at Hull Royal Infirmary (HRI).
