Couple raise £22,000 after baby heartache
Peterhead family want cash to help others coping with similar difficulties
A NORTH-EAST couple have raised more than £20,000 in memory of their stillborn daughter.
Kelly Smith and partner Graeme Joiner said the money will be used to help other families cope with similar heartache.
The Peterhead couple were left devastated following the birth of Lily in April.
They later decided to do something to thank the stillbirth and neonatal support group Sands, which helped them through the difficult time.
The couple, of Schivas Road, organised a bike ride in Lily’s memory along the old Dyce-Peterhead railway line.
On the day they were joined by 33 other cyclists and initially raised £14,000 through donations and sponsors.
Since then the couple has managed to boost the total to just under £22,000, including around £4,000 donated through Gift Aid.
